Crochet Hello Kitty hat
Enjoy this Crochet Hello Kitty Hat Pattern! This cute hat can be done in any size just change the hook size and use medium worsted yarn.
Supplies: 100% Cotton white,black,yellow, and pink yarn, or worsted yarn is ok too. H hook, G hook
Abbreviations: dc=double crochet sc=single crochet sl st=slip stitch hdc=half double crochet hdc2tog=half double crochet 2 together
I made this for a 5 year old. See above sizes.
How to Crochet a Double Crochet Hat Video:
Instructions: H hook, body, white yarn
rnd 1: Work 11 dc in a Magic Circle, sl st on top of the chain 3. -11 dc
rnd 3. ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), *2dc in next dc, dc in the next dc, Repeat from *around, join with sl st. -33 dc
rnd 4. ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), dc in the next dc, 2dc in the next dc, *dc in the next two dc, 2dc in the next dc, Repeat from *around, join with sl st. -44 dc
rnd 5. ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), dc in the 2 next two dc, 2dc in the next dc, *dc in the next 3 dc, 2dc in the next dc. Repeat from * around, join with sl st. -55 dc
rnds 6-desired length (lengths are listed above), Ch 3, (Counts as first Dc), dc in each dc around, sl st to join. -55 dc, Repeat this until your hat reaches 7 inches or for your desired hat size and length. Fasten off and Weave in the ends.
Trim: change color to pink yarn with H hook with sl st, single crochet around the trim, the bottom of the hat, sl st.
Eyes: Make 2 eyes black yarn, G hook.
rnd 1. ch 2, Work 10 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, join sl st. Attach in the center of the hat, about 2 inches apart.
Bow: pink yarn g hook
row 1. ch 12, sc the 2nd chain from the hook and each stitch to the end, ch 1, turn
rows 2-4. *sc in each ch across working in the back loops only, ch 1, turn, *repeat sc in all stitches around the border of the bow. take yarn and wrap it around the center of the bow 8-10 times or so to make the center of the bow, secure and weave in the ends
Whiskers: Use three black pieces of yarn on each side of the face of the kitty. Each Whisker measures 1 1/2 inches. sew them on individually and tie them on inside of the hat, place the whiskers next to the eyes, about 1/2 inch away on both sides.
Nose: G hook, yellow yarn,
rnd 1. ch 2, Work 10sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, join with sl st. Attach below the eyes in the center.
Ears
Make 2, white yarn, G hook
Rnd 1. Ch 2. sc in the 2nd chain from the hook 6 times, sl st. (6sc)
Rnd 2. Ch 1, sc in each stitch around. (6sc) work in continual rounds, use a marker to keep track
Rnd 3. 2sc in each sc around. (12sc)
Rnd 4. sc in each stitch around. (12sc)
Rnd 5. *2sc in next st, 1 sc*Repeat around.(18sc)
Rnd 6. sc in each stitch around (18sc).
Rnd 7. *2sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts*Repeat around. (24sc)
Rnd 8. sc in each stitch around (24sc) sl st. fasten off
Sew the ears on top of the hat about 2 inches apart.

ReplyDeleteI am on round 3. The directions say I should end up with 48 sts at the end of row 3 but I only come up with 36. I end up with 48 sts on row 4. Did I do something wrong?
ReplyDeleteCindy, I believe it is 36, as you increased to 3*12... I think it might be a typo.
