How to Crochet a Frog Beanie Hat Pattern Tutorial

Enjoy this Frog Hat Pattern! This cute hat can be done in any size just change the hook size and use medium worsted yarn. If you love frogs then this is the perfect hat for you!

I love this crochet Frog hat pattern for my baby! She looked so cute wearing this crochet hat pattern.

I'm switching to a WordPress blog instead of using this Blogger platform for various reasons, so this pattern has been relocated.

  5. Hi, I'm just curious about your hat patterns that are done in hdc, do you count the ch2 as a stitch or no?

  9. Why do you increase to 60 hdc stitches per round on the hdc version but only to 48 dc per round for the dc version of the same size hat? Wouldn't the dc hat end up too narrow and too small with only 48 stitches around on the biggest part of the hat?

  10. No dc stitch will make it bigger so u have less stitches, hdc will give u a tighter stitch, it's your choice, I've done both, they both work for the size u want.

  11. Thanks Amy for the reply. I have gotten to 48 dc around and it looks like it would only fit a baby and my son is 3 years old with a fairly big head. Should I just keep increasing until 60 or so dc instead? Or should i just increase until a certain circumference, which would be.....? Doesn't dc just make the stitch taller and not wider than hdc? I don't want to end up with a hat that will be way too tight to get on his head. Thanks for your help. I am excited for the hat. It is a cute pattern!

    1. Hi Rachel,

I use this site as a guideline for age/size. My son is 3 and has a small head, so I try to make hats on the smaller end of the range recommended by Amy as well as this site. It may give you a better idea on how much to increase. Hope this helps!

  12. I changed the dc pattern a little, try this one. its the same, just the stitches fit the number count.

  13. this pattern is for a 12 months to 3 year old, thats why its small for a baby for the hdc, using an I hook, so with the hdc or dc pattern, I suggest a J hook. This will work best. Also measure around his head to see the circumference of his head.

I'm not sure if you've seen this or not, but I found it while searching for patterns today. It looks to be identical to yours.

  15. Yeah Tammy, it looks like someone else stole the exact photo and pattern from this website and is claiming it to be their own original...and even making money off it. Maybe the owner of this website can contact the other person and let them know that they are being illegal. So sad.
