for a larger size, I would measure her waist, then crochet chains that are same measurements as the waist measurement, and just follow the rest of the pattern

Looking at your pattern the base for the skirt is done in SC with the ruffle being attached in every 3d row. I wonder...could I cut down on the number of rows needed for the base by SCing row 5, then DC row 6 (rather than SCing 6 and 7) and so on...the ruffle would be attached to the SC rows. Thoughts?

Wow, at first glance I thought this was a clutch purse. Little girls get to wear all the fun stuff! This stuff could be used as a ruffled cuff for plain shirts, the neckline as well. It would be pretty as a "flower" on a hat.

TIP: If you are making this skirt in a larger size, using the Caron yarn might make it too heavy. I am making it in a girls size 6 and am using a sport weight yarn which seems to be working out well.

On round 8 of the skirt I am assuming you are supposed to repeat the pattern of sc in next 2 stitches, 2sc in next stitch around to the end? At least that is what I did

I'm new to crochet love this pattern but am confused why it goes from 72 to 96 am I supposed to increase and last stitch of each row so right?

I goes from 72, to 96, because in that next row, I made an increase, there is only one increase round in the skirt, after that, there will not be an increase, just single crochet around to the end of the skirt.

Two things I did different, only did the back loop sc on those rows where the ruffle is attached and worked the ruffles from the bottom up. This makes putting the ruffle on easier.

I made this for my 5 year old grand daughter. It was loved by her and everyone who sees it. My 72 year old mother has requested one for her doll! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful pattern.

I am making this for a 3 month old would I still need to do rows 9 through 24?? With the regular yarn

I only measured it for a 2 or 4 year old. So my guess is, measure the waist or know the waist of a 3 month old, and chain a width for that measurement. Then continue on for how long you would want for a 3 month old. I would do a google search and see how long a 3 month is from waist to feet and then cut that in half for the length. I can't say I know for sure, since I only did this for a toddler and older.

I'm a little confused about the rounds count. You say to sc for rows 3-4, and then repeat for the next 2 rounds. Then it goes to Rounds 5-7, but haven't those already been done it the two rounds following 3 and 4? Help!

I'm just saying the same thing two different ways. I'm saying do rounds 3-4, then continue on with rounds 5-7. I just said it twice so you know to repeat round 3 twice, which equals rounds 3-4. and same thing for rounds 5-7, repeat round 5, three times. So just to be clear just do rounds 3-4 the way it says then continue on to rounds 5-7 the way it says, ignore the repeating part, it just means to do round 3: twice, and to do round 5: three times. Hope I made that clear?

At the end of each round with the sashay yarn, do you have to cut and tie off or only at the end of the entire skirt? I have my base skirt complete and I'm not sure if I do a continuous crochet with the sashay or keep cutting and reattaching. Thanks!

I am in need of some help! My seam seems to be going in a diagonal. I have started and restarted it at least twice and it's the same issue! My stitches count out right, but what might I be doing wrong?

not sure why it would be going on a slant, make sure your count is correct. Also make sure that you don't sc in that last stitch, that is really be previous beginning stitch, that can make that happen. Make sure you only increase where is says too.

Maybe this is a dumb question but how do you tie this off? Cut it and sew it then start a new row of ruffles? Sorry I'm new to this yarn.

did you watch the video, that will help on how to cut it off and tie it. Yes, you will start a new row of ruffles each time for each row of ruffles.

When you are suppose to chain in the beginning round do u sc in that stitch as well or just go to the second sc from the begginning round and sc in that one and do u count the chain 1 as a stitch? For some reason i end up with 73 not 72 in each round even if i start out with 72

no sc in the next stitch after the chain 1. I don't have the skirt to count the stitches anymore, at the time I had a 72 count on sc only, not including the chain 1. But if its working out with one more sc count, then I wouldnt worry about it.

I do not have a skort pattern sorry. Also I dont have a size 6 worked out. But I suggest you can measure the childs waist and work a chain that fits around her waist and pretty much work the in a similar pattern.

I saw some questioning about fastening off after each row and I found it easier to just chain 3 and drop down to the next set of back loop rows and continue the same without cutting the yarn. It worked out perfectly. Thanks for this pattern. I was looking for some other things to make other than the scarves and this was perfect.

Thanks you for posting this Pattern. It turned out great and wish there was a way to post a photo of it. I made the size 2T with a smaller hook and fits my 11M3W old. I made it for her 1st birthday or Easter. It turned out SUPER Cute. Its a great pattern.

I made this short skirt for my granddaughter and changed it into shorts by
1 find the middle of front and back
2 with that point in the middle sc 8 or 9 stitches.
3 sc back and forth reducing as you go along until you think it is long enough to reach between the legs. then sc into the back around the middle point.
4 sc several rows around the openings for legs of the shorts. It turns out very nice.

is this for 2t-4t, or reg.2-4? i need it in 4t as reg. 4 are to big. ty for help didn't want to start something that is to big. thanks terri

Love the look of the skirt. Would it be possible to make an adult size? I'm a size 10 or 12 in pants, short leg length. Would it be too heavy with all the ruffles?

Im not sure since I havent done it for an adult, but it may work.

I would get the measurements of the waist of that size, and chain the length for the waist size, then connect that chain together and follow the pattern. you may make it a little shorter then a toddler size, find out how long a baby is from waist to knees and stop at the knees for the skirt.

Have you thought about starting the ruffle at bottom of skirt and working your way up? Seems like you would not be fighting ruffle the entire time.

When I did this for my niece who is 6 I increased the chains by 6 and it fits her perfectly
