How to Crochet a Baby Crocodile Stitch Mermaid Tail Cocoon Pattern

I made this Mermaid tail after seeing many cute mermaid tails for babies and I wanted to make one for my friend. I hope you enjoy this pattern!

Abbreviations:
sc=single crochet
dc=double crochet
sl st=slip stitch
ch=chain
beg=beginning

Materials:
H hook

I'm switching to a WordPress blog instead of using this Blogger platform for various reasons, so this pattern has been relocated.

Is my gauge way off, or is this tiny? There are no increases after the crocodile stitch starts? I'm coming up with a 6 inch diameter. I know babies are small, but this seems way too small.

did you get 40 dc around before you started the crocodile stitches? Once you start the crocodile stitches it will be the same diameter around.

Do you have a Video for this on your YouTube page?

no, but I do have the crocodile stitch part of it, which is in this pattern.

Are you able to do a video starting this pattern up to the start of the crocodile stitch as I'm a bit lost with the abbreviations and find it easier to learn by watching someone else do it, thanks.

Hi, I also am having trouble following the pattern, at the start it says ch2, how is it possible to work with only a ch of 2? It would be great if you could do a video tutorial for this. Like the other person I also find it easier to watch someone else do it.any help would be appreciated :) thank you :)

Ch2 your starting off at the bottom and working to the top.

-Chain 2 starts at bottom with 5 sc in first chain eliminating the 2nd chain. You will have 5 sc sl st together for a small circle. Adding the 2dc will widen the circle as you work towards the top. Sl st each row to continue the circle creating a cone shape.
-YES mine was very small; I did not measure but 6 in diameter seems about right. When you start the v stitches it widen even more.
-v stitch is dc, sc, dc in same stitch; the point of your v will point same direction as tip of cone.
-when doing the 1st 5 fpdc you will be at the top of the blanket working toward the tip of the cone, sc will act as the tip of the crocodile scale and will be pointed toward the top of the cone as welll. The 2nd fpdc will start closer towards the tip of the cone and work up toward the top of the blanket. I found it easiest to turn the blanket 90 degrees right and left to make the posts horizontal and easier to work.
